Without an accurate birth time, Kristin can provide approximately half a reading. The birth time allows her to ascertain a rising sign, which is the most personal aspect of your chart and dictates the placement of all signs and planets within the chart. Additionally, in some cases, we would not be able to accurately identify the moon or sun placement(s). While we heavily recommend trying to locate an exact to-the-minute birth time, we will endeavor to work with clients without one.
Getting a natal chart reading without a birth time is like getting a diagnosis from a doctor without them knowing which part of the body to treat.
-
Your birth time should be as close to the minute of the first breath as possible. We prefer official records, such as a birth certificate, in lieu of relying on familial memories, as these can be skewed by any number of factors.
The birth time is a critical component to an accurate and full astrological reading as it dictates the rising sign. The ascendant, or rising sign, is the most personal aspect of a natal chart and establishes where all signs and planets are located in the chart. The rising sign changes approximately every two hours—if your parents are rounding to a whole, half or even quarter hour, the ascendant could be skewed, throwing off the whole chart. Getting a natal chart reading without a birth time is like getting a diagnosis from a doctor without them knowing which part of the body to treat.
As far as location is concerned, please provide the city where you born. If you were born in a suburb of Chicago, for example, give the name of the suburb and not Chicago proper.

In order of accuracy:
1) Request a birth certificate online. If the birth certificate does not have a birth time, you could try calling the hospital where you were born.
2) Look for old baby announcements or photo albums, if your parents held onto mementos.
3) Check timestamps on photos.
4) Ask your parents and other family members. Push them for a specific, non-rounded time. If a good guess does not give us a “cusp-y” rising sign, we will be good to go.

The Introductory Natal Chart Reading provides a comprehensive view into client’s life and personality. When looking at current or incoming energies, the current or future map of the sky will be measured against the client’s birth chart. It is important that Kristin becomes familiar with the patterns of the client’s chart, with confirmation from the client, before making future predictions.

Kristin practices a combination of ancient and modern astrology, utilizing the whole sign house system and combining analysis of the inner and outer planets. She will briefly touch on the nodes and, if requested, Chiron.

Like any astrologer, predictions are never 100% accurate. Astrology is a symbolic language; all signs, planets, houses and aspects (the components of a chart), have multiple symbolic meanings. Together, we can discuss the multitude of options indicated by the chart, and over time, Kristin’s predictions will improve (because history tends to repeat itself).

You may book a reading for your own child. If they are 12 or older, the child must have the option of attending the session and they must sign a consent form located here. Children 16 or older may receive a reading without a parent present, so long as the parent signs the consent form linked above.
Please know that we can often ascertain information about parent-child dynamics from the parent's natal chart alone.
Only in rare cases would I read another adult's chart for someone other than that person. The situation would need to be discussed in advance and a consent form would need to be signed by that adult. You can email info@kristinmadding.com to inquire further.

This is an individual decision. Even Kristin, who believes in astrology, does not always base decisions on celestial alignments. In the past, she has used astrology to launch businesses and plan vacations, however, more regularly she chooses to trust synchronicity and allow life to unfold. Sometimes we can use astrology to support fear-based or anxious decision making, and that’s never Kristin’s preference. We can’t always rearrange our lives to fit astrology—better to trust and live life.

As a society, we have yet to scientifically find causation between celestial placements and human behavior. Rather, astrology is a practice of correlation. For centuries, man has recorded the events of the sky and the events of earth. Finding a correlation between the two is the basic foundation of astrology.
While we may jestingly remark, "Mercury retrograde is driving me nuts," the reality is that mercury retrograde serves only as an indicator—an omen—for specific energies to manifest in our society and personal experiences. (That said, Kristin does allow for the possibility that humans may one day substantiate scientific causation.)

Kristin welcomes clients of varying levels of belief. Receiving a reading is a great way to assess how astrological beliefs align to you. That said, Kristin does hope skeptics will attempt to maintain an open mind and heart throughout the reading, and respect Kristin’s beliefs in return. Astrology may not be for everyone, and that is A-OK, but “gotcha” energy is less productive in a reading. For a more in-depth look at Kristin’s answers to skepticism, please visit this blog post.

Any reading should not be used as a substitute for advice, programs, or treatment that you would normally receive from a licensed professional, such as a lawyer, doctor, psychiatrist, or financial advisor.
Cartomancy is an ancient system of interpreting signs and symbols. There are many possible interpretations and meanings for the cards pulled, and therefore, any analysis should not be taken as gospel. A reading is just one point of view and another diviner’s interpretation of any particular card might differ. It is up to the client to determine what resonates and to leave what doesn’t.
Kristin’s ethos is to offer readings, insights, suggestions and advice in good faith and with an attempt to do no harm. Above all, Kristin empowers her clients to use their own heart-centered intuition to make their own decisions and each client is ultimately responsible for their own choices.
